This publication contains data on monitoring prisoners` awareness and behavior regarding HIV / AIDS. Comparison of the results of researches conducted in 2004 and 2007 enabled to analyze the dynamics of the prisoners’ health condition, as well as their awareness on HIV / AIDS and STI, access to HIV testing, the prevalence of risky behaviors in prisons and the coverage with preventive measures for convicted. Based on these data national performance indicators are calculated that ensure the control of HIV / AIDS in penal institutions. Also the series of proposals were prepared that might contribute to response to the epidemic in the penal system.
