The study investigated the level of TB awareness and perception of personal risk to develop the disease; determined the impact of the material condition on attitudes towards TB diagnosis and treatment; as well as examined the prevalence of TB stigma. Since the ultimate objective of the study of 2004 was to gather necessary information for the development of TB information campaign, special attention was paid to the analysis of special information channels for the target audience. The study included a representative survey of Kiev and Donetsk region, interviews with certain vulnerable to TB disease groups and focus group discussions with people living with HIV. Based on a comparative analysis of the surveys conducted in 2004 and 2006 the results and efficiency of the TB awareness campaign in Kiev and Donetsk regions were derived.
